Wet flue-gas desulfurization systems, also known as wet scrubbers, are widely used in coal-fired power plants to help plant operators meet strict federal and state mandates related to SO2 emissions. Mist eliminators are an integral part of these systems and are used to separate water droplets, which may contain acidic components, from the gas stream before it reaches the final smoke stack.
Ongoing maintenance and frequent replacement of mist eliminators comprises a large portion of system operating costs. Udel® polysulfone (PSU) can significantly lower these costs by replacing traditional materials like polypropylene, fiberglass-reinforced polymer (FRP) and stainless steel.
Polysulfone Mist Eliminators Save Time and Money
- Reduces the number of routine cleaning cycles
- PSU panels easier and faster to clean
- Long service life reduces maintenances costs
- Less expensive than costly metal alloys
