Tecnoflon® Ionic Curable FKMs can be processed by conventional rubber processing methods.

Compression Molding

Compression molding is the oldest and most common form of molding of FKMs.

Transfer Molding

A medium viscosity polymer is recommended. A careful consideration of cure rate is important to ensure scorch safety.

Injection Molding

Injection molding is the most demanding molding process. The injection molding grade selected should have a molecular weight distribution to achieve the best flow and good scorch safety with a very steep cure rate. Molding fouling must be minimized by using formulations minimizing process aids and metal oxides.

Extrusion

Extrusion of FKMs is used to form extruded shapes, tubing, O-ring cord, and compression molding pre-forms.

Copolymers & Terpolymers

Tecnoflon® FKM copolymers are based on vinylidene fluoride and hexafluoropropylene with fluorine content of 65 - 66%. There are two types of copolymers: cure incorporated and non-cure incorporated (gumstock).  Tecnoflon® FKM ionic curable terpolymers are based on vinylidene fluoride, hexapfluoropropylene and tetrafluoroethylene with fluorine content between 68% to 70%. There are two types of terpolymers: cure incorporated and non-cure incorporated (gumstock).

Tecnoflon® SEF (Solvay Eco Friendly)

The novel characteristics of this copolymer and the properties of its crosslinking system deliver these results: lowest gas emission in molding, energy savings, no post cure needed, outstanding seal performance, excellent mold release with no mold fouling and the best sealing performance with a short post cure time. Molders can reduce production time and costs by skipping the item's post cure in ovens.

Tecnoflon® FOR 7353 and FOR 4353 Ionic Curables grades are registered in the FDA Inventory of Effective Premarket Notifications for Food Contact Substances. They can be compounded so that the finished gaskets or seals can be used in food processing equipments.
