During the last “WPC 2010” conference organised by AMI in April 2010 in Vienna (A), Claudine Bloyaert, SolVin Technical Market Development for Profiles, has presented brand new results about the use of hemp in PVC composites. This rather stiff natural fiber shows interesting properties, focusing on water uptake and mechanical propeties, when used in vinyl reinforcement, offering a potential alternative to wood in some WPC building profiles.
