World's Lightest All-Plastic Recyclable Airline Catering Trolley
AeroCat has introduced the airline industry's first recyclable all-plastics catering trolley made of  Radel® R polyphenylsulfone from Solvay Advanced Polymers. The innovative Tigris trolley weighs 25% less than conventional aluminum trolleys and can significantly reduce  fuel consumption.

Self-supporting emergency shelters
Solvay has developed cost-effective PVC ‘Shelt-Easy’ emergency tents. These emergency family dwellings are quickly assembled, include sanitary installations and can be used for long periods.

Head office warm in winter, cool in summer
The new Solvay Italia head office, Bollate, uses ‘blue wall’ glazing technology – double glazing with an external greenhouse vinyl film offering summer cooling and winter heating. PVC and PVDF films are widely employed in the eco-construction of the office.

Asian coral regeneration uses PVC pipes
Solvay Vinythai, Thailand, supports local self-help project to encourage coral regrowth.  A framework of locally-made PVC pipes containing coral fragments is laid on sea bed.

PVC made from sugar and salt!
Solvay Indupa, Brazil, will soon have integrated ethanol-sourced ethylene production plant, using sugar-cane for the ethanol. So, sugar for the ethylene source and, of course, salt for the other side of the PVC production chain.

Pipelife, a Solvay joint venture company, has developed STORMBOX – a modular system to slow-down the flow of rainwater through gutters and the sewage network.  The system helps prevent sewage overload and flooding.

Inergy Automotive Systems, a Solvay joint venture company, has developed a fuel tank which re-uses up to 40% of recycled plastic – a world first.

High eco-efficiency rating for Vinyloop®
The Vinyloop® recycling process extracts PVC compounds from composite materials and permits re-use as recycled material. It is rated as the most ‘eco-efficient’ recycling process.
